Total Fee = Base Fee + Structure Surcharge + Employee Fee + Location Fee + Certified Copy Fee

  • Base Fee – Set by NJ Division of Consumer Affairs per license/registration type (see table below).
  • Structure Surcharge – $0 (sole proprietor) | $25 (partnership) | $50 (corporation/LLC) – administrative filing cost.
  • Employee Fee – HIC only: $50 × number of registered employees/salespersons (N.J.A.C. 13:45A-17.3).
  • Location Fee – $75 × number of additional business locations.
  • Certified Copy Fee – $25 × number of certified license copies requested.

  • Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) fees are governed by N.J.S.A. 56:8-136 et seq. and N.J.A.C. 13:45A-17.1 et seq. (NJ Division of Consumer Affairs).
  • HVACR contractor licensing fees are set under N.J.S.A. 45:22A and the NJ Board of Examiners of Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors.
